FIRE-IN Workshop’s Methodology

The workshop formats were designed based on two approaches: Sticky Dot Voting for the selection of supporting/preparatory tasks to be discussed within the workshop and the World Café Method.

Sticky Dot Voting is an approach used to describe voting with dot stickers. It encompasses the  following steps:

  • Participants are each given a set number of dot stickers (as decided by the facilitator)
  • They place dot stickers next to options presented that they like (they may place any number of
    their dots on any number of the options)
  • Options with the most dots at the end of voting “win”

The World Café Method is a structured and creative conversational process for deriving and sharing knowledge and information in which groups of people discuss a topic at several tables, with individuals switching tables periodically and getting introduced to the previous discussion at their new table by a “table host”.

The workshops were implemented as follows. For each new scenario, the process started on Step 2:
