After three years of absence the Security Research Event is back! This year, the SRE is organised by the European Commission, and supported by the Spanish Presidency of the Council of the European Union, and Sweden.
Industry, policy-makers, knowledge institutions, and practitioners will come together to discuss the state of play for European Security Research and Innovation, and how best to tackle emerging security issues using EU-funded research. This year’s event will focus on challenges stemming from global megatrends, which are shifting the ground for security in the EU. The main themes are embraced by the event’s title: “Societal transformations, climate change and digitalisation – a new paradigm of Security Research?”
The SRE 2023 will consist of a Conference and an Exhibition. Opening Keynote Speeches and an Introductory High Level Round Table on the future of security research will set the policy context and main themes of the event.
The Conference will address the main themes of the event through 5 cross-cutting panels made up of practitioners, policy-makers, researchers and civil society representatives.
The Exhibition will illustrate the main themes of the event with 50 booths presenting selected security research projects funded by the Horizon Europe programme, as well booths presenting activities of the European Commission, EU agencies in the field of justice and home affairs and the national security research activities of Spain and Sweden.
